The church has a small but enthusiastic Choir under the leadership of Antony Wilson, Director of Music. Antony has been organist and choirmaster at Saltwood since 1995. He thinks that music is able to make a unique contribution to worship in church. To this end he has worked to build up the choir so that its items have become a more regular feature in church services.
The Choir is currently made up of adult voices and the main purpose is to give a musical lead in worship. They do this in the singing of hymns and worship songs and also descants and anthems when these can naturally enhance the form.
The Choir consists of around 16 voices. Antony is always pleased to hear from new possible members, especially young people including children aged eight and over. Singers interested in joining are always welcome. The ability to read music is preferred but not essential. Please come along to a choir practice on Thursday evenings at 7.30 or, alternatively, linger after Sunday morning service to have a word with Antony. The Choir sings regularly at the Sunday morning Eucharist, Family Service and at weddings and other services as requested.
