Funeral Hymns
How many hymns?
For a service in Church two or three hymns are normally chosen and for a service at a crematorium it is usually one or two. Where there are very few mourners, you may prefer to have the hymn read by a single voice or together.
Do I need an order of service?
The answer to this depends on the hymns you chose. Providing the words of all the hymns chosen are in the Church or Crematorium hymnbooks (depending where the service is being held and indicated by "Church" or "Crematorium" next to the title) it is not necessary. However, if you choose other hymns then an order of service will be needed. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have observed any copyright obligations for words you reproduce. Many hymns have alternative tunes, and if you want a specific one, you should inform the Priest-in-Charge.
