Life Events

The beautiful Scottish Island of Iona is described by many as a ‘thin place’, so beautiful that it gives a glimpse of heaven. There are many occasions in life which can be described as ‘thin places’, where we catch a glimpse of ‘something else’ and are given an opportunity to respond to God’s love and forgiveness. These can happen at any time, but baptism, marriage and funerals are particular times when we look to God for hope and encouragement on our journey of faith. For Christians these are always set in the context of worship where we acknowledge our hopes and fears in the presence of God.
